Press Release
Banana Blossom Ink Launches as an Independent Publishing & Creative Company
SAN DIEGO, California — September 1, 2026.
Banana Blossom Ink, a new independent publishing imprint based in San Diego, California, has launched with a focus on thoughtful, imaginative children’s books that encourage young readers to explore the world, embrace nature, and follow their curiosity.
Beginning with children’s literature, Banana Blossom Ink will publish stories shaped by discovery, adventure, culture, individuality, and fun! At the heart of the publishing and media company is a belief that books can invite readers to experience the world with greater curiosity and playfulness, exploring nature, wildlife, culture, creativity, and the unexpected along the way.
Banana Blossom Ink’s inaugural title, Mimi and Lola Make Halo-Halo: A Bilingual English and Bisaya Picture Book by Alona Cuadillo, is a children’s book about a young girl’s visit with her grandmother, showing how culture can be passed down simply and naturally through food, language, and shared activity. Young readers get to see how tropical fruits look like in the Philippines, learn their Bisaya names, and see how they’re harvested, and added into a colorful bowl of halo-halo.
Future Banana Blossom Ink projects will venture into new characters, places, and experiences, with stories that spark questions, encourage thoughtful exploration and play in the natural world. The independent publisher plans to expand its catalog over time to include books for different ages, interests, and stages of life.
Beyond publishing, Banana Blossom Ink connects readers with people, places, ideas, and resources that encourage curiosity, preserve what matters, and deepen our connection to culture, community, and the natural world.
